Profile

My role is to support and deliver Te Pou programmes to the mental health and addiction sector.

Since 2009, I have been involved with the Let’s get real programme, leading its implementation in non-government organisations and district health boards.  To be more effective and responsive to people using services and their family/whanau, this work involves both systematic and process change management for mental health service delivery. A highlight has been developing the Let’s get real Values and Attitudes workshops founded on the principles of values-based practice; an area of increasing interest for the mental health and addiction workforce.

After travelling for a number of years and working in New York and South East Asia, I attended Victoria University in the early 1990s and completed a BCA with an emphasis on social business management. I have 20 years' experience working in the health and disability sector, starting my career as a community mental health support worker and progressing to roles in management and sector leadership.

I have undertaken and been involved in a number of national projects to improve the responsiveness and effectiveness of mental health services for service users and their family/whanau.

My goal is to undertake work that is driven by the people who use mental health services and their family/whanau to lead the future of mental health and addiction services in Aotearoa.
