Profile
I am one of two service user leads at Te Pou. In my role, I encourage service users, family and mental health workers to use mental health information collaboratively. When clinicans tell service users and family members about mental health information people can decide if or how to use it to benefit them.
I am also very interested in how service user and family / friends work together to support each others wellbeing. I’m looking forward to working more closely with consumers and family from the AOD and disability sectors to understand how services can wrap one-stop support around people.
I began working as a support worker in supported accommodation over ten years ago. I moved to work as a lead support worker at an activity centre and art space for five years. In my next role I was a consumer employment consultant attached to a community mental health team.
I met insipring people in all of these roles. While I sometimes miss face to face work I relish working in a strategic role to benefit service users, our families and friends and the mental health workforce.
Madness is an intensely human experience; people experiencing such crises of being deserve intensely humane services and support.
