Candace Bagnall

Senior policy analyst

As a senior analyst, my main role at Te Pou is to translate research findings into meaningful application for mental health workforce and service development.

This is a process that has been central to my work in public health and mental health for the last 20 years, as a service provider, planner, funder and policy analyst at both a national level and in the northern region.

My qualifications (Master of Public Health) and most of my training and work experience are in public health; however prior to working at Te Pou, I developed and managed the National Depression Initiative for six years from within the Ministry of Health, working closely alongside the Like Minds Like Mine anti-discrimination programme. This experience left me with a commitment to ensuring service user perspectives are included in mental health service development and delivery.
