The research
Summary The project examined the current state of mental health research in New Zealand to identify areas which could be strengthened in future research. Research undertaken between 2004 and 2009 was systematically reviewed and compared against research priorities and burden of disease data.
Objectives To examine the current state of mental health research in New Zealand in relation to national research priorities to identify strengths and gaps in the literature.
Study design A systematic review of published and unpublished research between 2004 and 2009 focusing on mental disorders and sub-clinical states. Findings were compared to national and population specific research priorities, and burden of disease data.
