Let's get real Education Tool
Author: Te PouPublication date: 1 September 2009
Let’s get real is a framework that describes the essential knowledge, skills and attitudes required to deliver effective mental health and addiction services in New Zealand.
This Education Tool must be read in conjunction with the Let’s get real Overview document (available from www.tepou.co.nz/letsgetreal) which provides an extensive background and description of the Ministry of Health’s Let’s get real national initiative for developing the mental health and addiction workforce.
The Education Tool supports current and future educational and training programmes for mental health and addiction services. This includes acknowledging and incorporating the signifi cant benefi ts of key stakeholder engagement in the development, review and maintenance of programmes for mental health and addiction students.
The Education Tool’s objective is to support education and training providers to review and develop their course content and teaching methods as required to comply with the Let’s get real framework.
The Education Tool provides practical templates to support education and training providers to incorporate Let’s get real into their curriculum development and revision, and their programme and course reviews.
Te Pou would like to thank you for providing leadership by initiating the inclusion of Let’s get real into the education and training sector, and thereby supporting the overall goal of a more responsive and skilled workforce for the mental health and addiction sector.
