Australasian Mental Health Outcomes Conference

On this page:

The background

The inaugural Australasian Mental Health Outcomes Conference 2007 (He Kakano) put international focus on the potential benefits of using mental health outcomes information to enhance mental health services. From 2 to 4 October 2007, Te Pou and AMHOCN hosted He Kakano, Planting the Seeds: The Australasian Mental Health Outcomes Conference 2007, at the Duxton Hotel, Wellington, New Zealand.

Te Pou hosts or co-hosts this bi-annual conference every four years in partnership with AMHOCN (Australian Mental Health Outcomes and Classification Network).

2008

The Australasian Mental Health Outcomes Conference 2008 was hosted by AMHOCN (Australian Mental Health Outcomes and Classification Network) in Australia and Te Pou actively participated in its organisation. The conference was held in Melbourne on 24-26 November 2008 at the Crowne Promenade Hotel.

Building on from the inaugural mental health outcomes conference in 2007, the conference again promoted the use of routine outcome measurement in mental health and addiction services and provided exposure to outcomes developments and implementation, including:

  • examples of best practice in terms of training and implementation processes
  • demonstrating the potential utility of information
  • ensuring linkages to recovery and cultural responsiveness are maintained
  • providing a platform for international mental health and addiction outcomes research and workforce developments.

The conference provided a focal point for the sharing of information about routine outcome measurement. It presented an opportunity to increase understanding and knowledge of outcome measurement use in clinical practice and how it can improve the quality of mental health services and achieve better outcomes for consumers.

This conference was themed 'Touching Ground: Innovation and Practice'.  Visit the conference website.
