Information Utility
Information Utility is about developing and providing tools to assist clinicians, clients and managers of mental health services to understand how to read, analyse and interpret mental health information and apply it in their everyday practice.
Information Utility is targeted at all professional groups providing mental health services, as well as service users and tangata whaiora accessing services. It can be from a clinical and non-clinical perspective.
This Information Utility page is a work in progress and we would like to thank the many people who are working with us, generously investing their time to assit us in creating information utility tools and resources for the mental health and addiction sector.
The Te Pou Information Utility Strategy outlines how Te Pou will carry out the work that is required as documented in the National Mental Health Information Strategy, Ministry of Health, 2005.
How to use HoNOS In clinical multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings
A presentation by Dr Malcolm Stewart, Professional Leader, Psychology
We have worked with Dr Malcolm Stewart to produce a presentation that discusses HoNOS (CA) in the context of the MDT. The intention of the presentation is to ultimately improve the way that it is integrated into clinical work at MDT level. The presentation is approximately 48 minutes in duration.
There are a number of documents which should be used in conjunction with watching the presentation. They are:
1. The Powerpoint slides that Dr Stewart is referring to in the presentation
2. An MDT review form based on HoNOS (CA) which is referred to in the presentation
3. A suggested process for using HoNOS(CA) in team meetings
4. A Quick Guide for using HoNOS (CA) in team meetings
5. A Utility Card for using HoNOS(CA) in team meetings
If you are having trouble viewing this presentation, please contact Dr Mark Smith on 07 857 1277 to request a copy on CD. The CDs are currently in production and will be available in June.
Where to from here
We are investigating clinical utility tools for HoNOS, taking a thoughtful and planned approach to what is produced. We have a lot of great ideas and will keep you posted on progress in this area.
