National and international websites which include a searchable database focusing on mental health or including a substantial number of articles relating to mental health are listed below.
National
- Balance NZ Bipolar and Depression Network has a database of bibliographies of mood disorder research. Visitors must register to access the database.
- Kiwi Research Information Service includes open-access research documents produced at universities, polytechnics, and other research institutions throughout New Zealand.
- Research Review New Zealand is a free service that highlights important studies and provides you with commentary from New Zealand specialists.
- The Mental Health Foundation has a searchable bibliographic database of New Zealand and international mental health promotion research.
- The National Addiction Centre lists a range of current research projects under the headings planned research, ongoing research, recently completed, publication and dissemination ongoing and past research.
- Te Rau Matatini has a great searchable database including abstracts for articles relating to Maori mental health, many also relate to the wider New Zealand community.
- The Tangata Whenua, Community and Voluntary Research Centre Clearing House has downloadable research reports on community and voluntary organisations including a number which relate to mental health services.
International
- Canadian Coalition for Seniors' Mental Health is a research and knowledge exchange network with searchable abstracts relating to the mental wellbeing of senior people.
- Directory of Open Access Journals provides links to a variety of free-access full text, quality controlled research journals, including 83 psychology journals and 103 public health journals.
- Involve Database includes details of published and unpublished health and social care research projects that actively involve members of the public as partners in the research process.
- Mental Health Care from The Institute of Psychiatry, King's College, posts information on the latest research conducted in the mental health sector (updated weekly). Site is currently down.
- National Library for Health has details and abstracts of evidence based reviews, UK guidelines and protocols, topic specialist libraries, books, journals and healthcare databases, images and web resources.
- SAMHSAs National Registry of Evidence Based Programs and Practices (NREPP) is a searchable database of mental health and substance abuse interventions that have been reviewed and rated by independent reviewers.
- Social Care Online provides summary information and research on all aspects of social care including mental health. Some links provide access to full-text reports.
- The Cochrane Library includes details of evidence from Cochrane and other systematic reviews, clinical trials, and more; these cover all aspects of health, including mental health.
- The Evidence for Policy and Practice Information and Co-ordinating Centre has a number of databases which include bibliographies of research relating to health promotion.
- Turning research into practice includes free access to a number of research databases that provide information allowing users to rapidly identify the highest quality clinical evidence for clinical practice. Visitors must register to access databases.

- CommunityNet Aotearoa provides guidelines and information about matters such as research, evaluation and funding for beginners to advanced knowledge levels. The links page includes many international websites with free evaluation resources.
International
- Canadian Health Service Research Foundation provides an extensive range of tools to help organisations create, share and use research. It includes a number of documents and discussions about organisational learning, and research and evaluation tools and guidelines.
- Programme Development and Evaluation: University of Wisconsin has easy-to-use, practical tools and suggestions for improving program development and evaluation practices.
- Research in Practice has a number of resources designed to help you find and evaluate research including a glossary of research terms and information on ethics and consent issues governing research.
- Resources for Methods in Evaluation and Social Research focuses on "how-to-do" evaluation research and the methods used including surveys, focus groups, sampling, interviews and other methods.
- The Evidence for Policy and Practice Information and Co-ordinating Centre has a methods section which provides a brief description of the methods used at each stage of a systematic review.

- Social Care Institute for Excellence provides information designed to allow organisations to assess whether they are a learning organisation, that is, an organisation that uses evidence-based practice and informed decision-making.
