Sensory modulation training

Following up on demand generated by the October 2009 workshop on Sensory Modulation and Trauma Informed Care, led by Dr Tina Champagne from the Center for Human Development in Massachusetts, USA, Te Pou will offer a three-day intensive training course in this approach.

The sensory modulation programme is a powerful support for recovery as it uses soothing sensory input to coach self-regulation of emotion, and is a powerful complement to cognitive-based therapies.

The workshop will be held in two parts.

Day one
An overview of theory and clinical application of this work. Suited for a multi-disciplinary group.

Days two and three
Suited to clinical specialists from nursing, occupational therapy and psychology to apply standardised assessment of sensory requirements and coaching in using sensory tools in a clinical setting.

Date: 10-12 March 2010.
Location: Auckland Airport Holiday Inn.
Registration: Day one only: $30
Days two and three: $60
All three days: $90
