Outcomes training

Te Pou delivers training to upskill the mental health workforce in information collection, and increase sector knowledge and understanding of how outcomes measurement and information can be used to improve mental health services. We also build DHB and NGO capability to manage and maintain the ongoing workforce skill development that is required for mental health information to continue to be collected and used.

Check out the training calendar on this page to find out about upcoming training opportunities.

The background
The requirement that mental health services collect and use outcome measures information in turn requires ongoing skill development, growth and changes in the sector's workforce capacity and capability.
Te Pou will develop local and regional strategies to meet the ongoing training requirements of mental health services with respect to outcome measures. We will also develop and implement a national training plan to ensure consistency of training materials and messages across the country. The plan will need to be robust, with an ability to change focus as the sector's needs change. We will provide support to DHB trainers to deliver outcomes training.

Train the trainer workshops are delivered to maintain a pool of outcome trainers in DHBs. These trainers require ongoing development and support, which is managed nationally. In addition, an information use training programme is delivered regionally, and information use workshops are held for specific target groups in DHBs and NGOs.

Other key stakeholders in the wider mental health sector have also requested training to help them better understand outcome measurement and the use of outcomes information, and Te Pou will provide this as required.
