My role is to provide advice, facilitate discussion and/or act as project lead in projects related to mental health information data quality, data collection protocols and information use. My role is specifically focussed on the use of outcomes and casemix information that will allow district health board (DHB) services to initiate quality improvement or benchmarking activities leading to improved health outcomes for people using mental health services.
Primarily I am project lead of the Casemix in PRIMHD project. This project focusses on testing the feasibility of building episodes for casemix grouping using PRIMHD data to allow comparative analysis of improvement, or change, in outcome measures across DHB services.
I am originally from Scotland but have lived in New Zealand, specifically the Waikato, since 1993. I have worked in the realm of mental health information for the past 16 years, with the last 10 years focussed on mental health outcomes. Since becoming a mum in 2003, I have worked as a consultant to the MH-SMART programme, and subsequently with Te Pou.
