Marcia Sasano is a health psychologist who works at Te Pou as Training Lead for the integrated primary mental health and addiction programme. Marcia has worked in primary care since 2007 and was part of the Primary Care Behavioural Health pilot with ProCARE/Freshminds. In addition to her supervision, mentoring, and clinical experience, Marcia has been involved in the implementation and training of Health Improvement Practitioners (HIPs) and HIP trainers in New Zealand. Marcia also has experience training primary care providers, mental health workforce, and HIPs in therapeutic interventions including Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (fACT). She is currently a HIP Master trainer and has given presentations both locally and internationally. Clinically, Marcia has a passion for working with population health initiatives, preventative medicine, cultural and gender minorities, and the development and implementation of professional resiliency trainings across health professions.
