Monday 2nd May and Wednesday 4th May 2022 9.00am - 12.00pm
It is required for you to attend both sessions.
Ātea is an exciting new training programme led by disabled people that aims to increase participants' awareness of attitudes towards disabled people, and how to reduce barriers so that everyone can participate fully in society.
Developed by the Te Pou Disability Workforce Development Team, the content is relevant to anyone who interacts with disabled people in their work or personal life.
The workshops are currently still in development and the purpose of the pilots is to test the content and approach. However, feedback to date shows participants have found the content interesting and engaging. We look forward to meeting you soon.
The workshop is interactive with most topics involving small group activities and discussion. There will be scheduled breaks.
Given the nature of the workshop, participants will be limited to 16 people.
Learning Outcomes
- Engaging respectfully with disabled people
- Recognising barriers that stop disabled people from being included
- Recognising ways to include disabled people
- Making a plan so we can include disabled people
