ADOM training - Auckland

A one day workshop to enable you, or your staff, to become an ADOM trainer for your service. Or to refresh ADOM knowledge.

Anticipated attendees

• identified ADOM trainers and champions in your service

• people who attended Te Pou or Matua Raki ADOM training more than 12 months ago.

Training content

• background to health outcomes

• what is ADOM

• which services and which tāngata whai ora should we be using ADOM with

• ADOM, PRIMHD and reports

• how, when and where is ADOM collected? (Information Collection Protocol)

• the use of the ADOM feedback wheel – engagement with clients

• making data collection useful

• integrating ADOM into clinical pathways

• techniques for training and coaching adults

• ADOM training - practice session

• using ADOM resources and support for trainers 

Selection of ADOM trainers

Attendees will be the ‘champions’ for ADOM in your service – they will provide ADOM training for all practitioners that use ADOM, and become the 'go to' person for addiction practitioners when they have queries.

ADOM trainers will also be encouraged to provide education and information about ADOM to their service managers, clinical leaders, quality and information staff.

Services are encouraged to select ADOM trainers who:

• have knowledge and experience of the addiction sector, ideally clinically based
• are able to engage with leaders and clinical staff regarding ADOM collection and usefulness
• are well supported by management
• can train and support practitioners to collect and use ADOM information
• have some appreciation of the principles of adult learning and teaching models.

There is no cost to attend this workshop. However, transport and accommodation costs are the responsibility of the registering service or organisation.
