Workshops are designed for people who have previous experience and training working in addiction services. For people without previous experience or training, it is recommended that Blueprint for Learning, Addiction 101 Workshop be completed before attending a workshop.
This consists of three online sessions for 2 hours each. This is a workshop intended for community based workers.
Dates:
Friday 11 October, 10am to 12:30pm
Monday 14 October, 10am to 12pm
Friday 18 October, 10am to 12pm
The workshops support kaimahi to:
- recognise and respond to someone who is intoxicated
- engage with people who use substances
- support and respond to someone contemplating or entering withdrawal
- understand the function of substance use and the impact of stigma on help seeking
The workshops will also explore:
- practical strategies to assess and manage behavioural disturbance due to intoxication and withdrawal
- how to refer to specialist addiction services and other community supports
- how to provide harm reduction advice for people who continue to use substances
Workshops are at no cost to attendees and attract CPD dapaanz points
