Kia Noho Rangatira Ai Tātou – Auckland 2019 (Disabled People)

4 December 2019 - 10:00am - 5 December 2019 - 4:00pm

Kia Noho Rangatira Ai Tātou is a unique education programme that puts human rights of disabled people and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities into a New Zealand cultural context.

The two-day interactive programme has a practical focus on applying the Disability Convention. Developed and delivered by disabled people, the programme is highly relevant for disability support services and disabled people to ensure that disabled people’s human rights are upheld.

This workshop is for people with lived experience of disability, for both disabled people and whānau.

This two-day programme is led by disabled people and has an applied focus which places the UNCRPD in the unique human rights context of Aotearoa.

The programme manual, which you will receive exclusively as a workshop participant, provides a framework that will help you:

  • Build your knowledge of human rights concepts and approaches
  • Strengthen your understanding of the principles and articles of the UNCRPD
  • Review your current practice
  • Ensure you are able to apply the UNCRPD on a day to day basis
  • Create a network of human rights defenders

This workshop is for disabled people. If you are a non-disabled person providing disability support, please register for one of our DSS workshops.
