The focus will be on mental health and its association with dementia.

Dr Stephanie D’Souza will discuss her recently co-authored publication in Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Psychiatry: Longitudinal Associations of Mental Disorders with Dementia 30 Year Analysis of 1.7 Million New Zealand Citizens.

We will hear about the work being currently undertaken by the Northern Region Dementia Working Group, looking at developing specific services for PWD in the region. Mark Fisher is going to discuss the progress of this work, and how it relates to the Framework and Dementia Action Plan, and the general direction.

We will also have a facilitated discussion on implications for older persons' mental health and addiction services.
