Online Substance use, intoxication and withdrawal management workshop: 24, 28 February & 3 March 2025

Substance use, intoxication and withdrawal management workshop will increase knowledge, skills, and confidence in knowing how to recognise and respond to intoxication and withdrawal when working in a clinical or community setting.

Workshops are designed for people who have previous experience and training working in addiction services. For people without previous experience or training, it is recommended that the Blueprint for Learning Addiction 101 workshop is completed before attending a workshop.

This consists of three online sessions for 2 hours each.

Dates (you must attended all three sessions):

  • Monday 24 February, 10am to 12:30pm
  • Friday 28 February, 10am to 12pm
  • Monday 3 March, 10am to 12pm

The workshops support kaimahi to:

  • recognise and respond to someone who is intoxicated
  • engage with people who use substances
  • support and respond to someone contemplating or entering withdrawal
  • understand the function of substance use and the impact of stigma on help seeking

The workshops will also explore:

  • practical strategies to assess and manage behavioural disturbance due to intoxication and withdrawal
  • how to refer to specialist addiction services and other community supports
  • how to provide harm reduction advice for people who continue to use substances

Workshops are at no cost to attendees and attract CPD dapaanz points.
