Pūrākau and Motivational Interviewing workshop for employed IPMHA HIPs, health coaches, and support workers

Te Pou is pleased to announce a funded professional development opportunity for HIPs, health coaches, and support workers who are employed within an IPMHA-funded role in primary care.
Tipene Pickett, Kotuku Training and Counselling Limited www.kotukutrainingandcounselling.org, delivers this Pūrākau and motivational interviewing (MI) workshop. Tipene is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT).
This workshop aims to explore the mana of both pūrākau and MI in conversation, helping you support others in talking themselves into change. It will deepen your understanding of the Pōwhiri process to assist with engaging with Māori.

This is a two-day training workshop delivered via Zoom.
Course dates

- Workshop 1 – Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 February, 9am to 4pm WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL
- Workshop 2 – Thursday 27 and Friday 28 March, 9am to 4pm WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL
- Workshop 3 – Thursday 29 and Friday 30 May, 9am to 4pm WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL
- Workshop 4 – Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 June, 9am to 4pm WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL
Participants must be available for these two days without interruption, have access to their own device with reliable internet and have approval from their manager to attend.
Course content
This workshop will provide participates with an in-depth understanding of the importance of embracing the spirit of motivational interviewing.
Application process
The HIP, health coach or support worker’s manager or lead completes the nomination form (link below).
On receipt of the nomination Te Pou will email the nominee requesting they complete and submit a form to complete the application process. Te Pou will confirm allocation of a training space to the nominating manager or lead.
