Alcohol and Drug Clinician, Community Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker - Housing Outreach

The details: Permanent – 80 hours per fortnight

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced qualified mental health clinician (Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or an Alcohol and Drug clinician) to become part of a new and dynamic community service, working in partnership with a Kaupapa Māori Community Housing Provider.

Your role would be to support whānau with complex needs to transfer from the HRBC to independent accommodation.

The team will provide an intensive case management approach to support whānau to reintegrate to community, sustain independent living and improve health and wellbeing.

Access to decent and affordable housing is one of the major challenges of current times, and is even more difficult for our vulnerable Māori whānau who also experience the debilitating effects of serious mental illness and associated stigma.

So come and help make a considerable difference for these Māori whānau in our community.

What do you need;

• RN, OT, SW, AOD clinician registration with experience of community MH and/or AoD practice

• Interest in Te Ao Māori and Tikanga practice and partnership approach

• Solution based, person centred, strength based approach

• Team player

• Excellent communication skills

• Networking skills

• Knowledge of Housing First type philosophy

• Strong risk assessment skill.

• Experience in community MH crisis work.

• Excellent organisational and documentation skills

• Willingness to engage in practical tasks and get your hands dirty.
