About The Salvation Army Bridge: Midland

The Salvation Army Bridge: Midland exists to provide safe, integrated, high quality treatment and support services to people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or substance use. Our services are evidenced based best practice and are known for being people-centred, caring, transformative and responsive.

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified Addictions Counsellor or Social Worker for our residential programme based in Hamilton.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provision of casework that provides integrated care for those experiencing co-existing problems of addiction and mental health
  • Group facilitation
  • Working within the framework of The Salvation Army Bridge Programme Model of Treatment
  • Implementation of the Salvation Army Bridge Programme Policies and Procedures

Person specification:

  • Degree in Addiction Counselling, Social Work, or qualifications in a closely related field such as psychology, nursing
  • DAPAANZ professional registration, an equivalent health registration or working towards obtaining a relevant registration
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good cross-cultural understanding
  • Commitment to continuing professional development relevant to addiction studies
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, sharing information, ideas and effective practices while maintaining client and service privacy, and confidentiality

Hours of work: This is a permanent full-time role of 40 hours per week.

The starting salary for this role falls between $62,000 - $75,000 annually dependent on experience.
