The role |Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

Our casual roles cover leave for permanent Support Workers in Christchurch, providing you with the opportunity to gain valuable experience across a range of our services (community mobile, respite, residential and recovery). The hours of work are not regular and are offered when they become available, so if you’re looking for a role with flexibility then we’d love to hear from you.

It is essential that applicants applying for this role should be prepared to work all shifts (AM, PM, and awake nights) when required on any day of the week. You’ll also need to be prepared to work across all of our services.

This role will always have variety and it could include things like:

  • Goal setting and building confidence
  • Securing a job or finding a place to live
  • Supporting people with budgeting and independent daily living skills
  • Attending appointments and advocating for people
  • Assisting people to connect with their communities
  • Medication support where required
  • Supporting whai ora with their daily routine
  • Maintaining the house
  • Supporting people to manage their distress
  • Be prepared to do whatever it takes - cleaning, cooking, gardening or helping with everyday tasks

You | Mōu

It’s crucial that they hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or an equivalent qualification. Additionally, they must have a comprehensive first aid Certificate covering 6400, 6401, and 6402 unit standards, or be prepared to attain this.

Key requirements:

  • Hold a full driver’s licence
  • Must be able to work all shifts AM, PM, and awake nights, on any day of the week, across all services.
  • Hold a comprehensive first aid Certificate or willing to obtain one – covering 6400, 6401 and 6402 unit standards

  • Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of the Te Tiriti Waitangi.
