The role |Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

We have casual support worker positions available, working on our awake night shifts across our respite and residential services. Our casual roles cover leave for permanent Support Workers in Christchurch and are offered when they become available, so if you’re looking for a role with flexibility then we’d love to hear from you.

Your main focus will be working alongside individuals in the evening to support their recovery, enhance their wellbeing, and help them live a meaningful life. This could involve tasks like assisting with meal preparation and cleaning up. It's all about making a positive difference in their lives while you enjoy the night-time schedule.

You’ll also

  • Focus on the individuals needs and provide culturally safe practice.
  • Complete relevant administrative tasks, take comprehensive notes, provide effective handovers to the next shift, and support and collaborate with your colleagues.
  • While they are asleep, you will be kept busy with other tasks like cleaning and supporting the day shifts with maintaining things like filing, first aid kits, emergency kits and preparation of paperwork.

You | Mōu

We are interested to hear from people who work in a recovery focused way, able to provide medication support and have impeccable attention to detail. Ideally, you’ll have some knowledge around community supports and how to navigate and access external services for the people we support.

We are looking for down to earth people who have a good sense of humour, integrity, honesty, reliability, and flexibility.

  • You must hold New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent. o check equivalency go to https://www.tewhatuora.govt.nz/our-health-system/pay-equity-settlements/care-and-support-workers-pay-equity-settlement/pay-equity-and-qualification-equivalencies
  • You must also hold a current full driver’s license
  • You must have a current first aid certificate.

  • You are a great listener, the sort of person who will listen deeply to the people who use our services
