The Team: What we do

Our Child and Family Safety Service based at Hillmorton Hospital is looking for an experienced and passionate NZ Registered Social Worker to join our team as a Child and Family Safety Co-ordinator within our Specialist Mental Health Services (SMHS).

The Child and Family Safety Co-ordinator is an integral role within the service, co-ordinating and guiding response to family violence and child protection issues. This is a permanent, part-time opportunity working 32 hours per week. The days and hours required for this position are negotiable.

The Role: Where you fit in

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Co-ordinating the service, which includes the Family Violence Intervention Programme, Child Protection and Family Violence, and Integrated Safety Response Programme
  • Liaising and co-ordinating responses with agencies such as Organa Tamariki, NZ Police, Corrections and Non-Government Agencies
  • Identify, promote and co-ordinate relevant policy in accordance with legislation
  • The maintenance of databases for the SMHS family safety programme

Your skills will include the following:

  • Registration with the NZ Social Worker's Board with current Annual Practising Certificate is essential
  • Proven experience in a mental health setting
  • Experience within Child and Family Safety is preferable
  • Strong communication and articulation skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with internal SMHS and external agencies
  • Strong computer literacy with the ability to learn new systems quickly and effectively
  • As some travel is required in this position, a current NZ driver's licence is essential
