About the team
Ours is an innovative service, working with an integrated model of care across community and inpatient settings. We are invested in developing our model of delivery towards increasing accessing to psychological therapies. Our staff are motivated people wanting to provide optimal treatment via thorough assessment and continued MDT co-ordination of treatment.
About the role
This adult mental health role combines assessment and therapy for people experiencing moderate to severe psychological distress. The Clinical Psychologist is an integral and valued member of the multidisciplinary team responsible for the provision of patient-centred interventions.
We want a like-minded individual, to join our multidisciplinary team of Psychiatrists, Registered Nurses, Social Workers and Occupational Therapists. You will provide a wide range of psychological services including risk assessment, diagnostics and testing, formulation and treatment planning, along with therapy.
You will work closely with consumers, family/whanau and community groups in a supportive, educational and clinical role that is firmly based upon the mental health recovery principles
You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team that ensures we provide our clients with assertive follow-up by maintaining contact with individuals through a key worker / case manager system. You will be a motivated individual, keen to make a difference and who thrives in a busy and diverse working environment. It goes without saying you will possess excellent communication, time management and team working skills and will be able to work well under pressure and stressful situations. Having experience of working with adult patients with mental illness in a community setting, this role which combines assessment, treatment and psychotherapy for people experiencing both acute and long-standing psychological conditions and issues.

You must be a Registered Clinical Psychologist with The New Zealand Psychologist's Board, hold a current practising certificate with a clinical scope and New Zealand driver's licence to apply for these roles. Eligibility to live and work in NZ is also a requirement.

Covid vaccination requirements
Following the update to COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021, to be employed with Southern DHB you will be required to be fully vaccinated as a health care worker. If you have already been fully vaccinated you will need to provide proof of this to Occupational Health staff. If you are not yet fully vaccinated you must make arrangements to undertake your first vaccination no later than the 30 October 2021 and be fully vaccinated, as required by the order, by 1 January 2021.
