Nāku Ēnei Tāmariki (NET) is a three tikanga organisation - Maori, Pasifika and Pakeha/other - made up of caring staff who provide pro-active intensive home visiting support to families with new babies and young children.
Our new pilot service - PASIFIKA SHINING LIGHTS is unique - A Pasifika primary mental health and wellbeing service - antenatal through the first five years.
NET has been funded by the Ministry of Health for this pilot project that is directed to the social and emotional health and wellbeing of becoming parents, infants, young children and their magafaoa ; aiga; famili; kaiga.
PASIFIKA SHINING LIGHTS is an exciting and challenging initiative that recognises the importance of working within Pasifika cultural protocols when supporting Pasifika families.
We can begin from conception supporting parental health and the infant-parent relationship to improve outcomes for adults and children. This is investing in our youngest children.
PASIFIKA SHINING LIGHTS is committed to provide a comprehensive, accessible, culturally appropriate and respectful service. Evaluation will be a key component given the very limited research addressing parent-child relationships and mental health and addictions among tagata Pasifika in the early years.
The successful applicant will be supported in their professional development in perinatal and infant mental health as appropriate.
