Clinician

About the role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

We’re looking for a Registered Clinician (Occupational Therapist, Counsellor, Nurse, Social Worker, or Psychologist) to join our Rotorua Real service. If you are passionate about supporting young people to build confidence, resilience and wellbeing and would like to work with a great team, we want to hear from you. This role will involve group facilitation.

You will be working Monday to Friday 8.30 am – 5.00 pm.

This role will involve facilitating groups, supporting young people with primary mental health issues and complex social needs, and supporting them to re-connect with community services and take control of their own lives. In this role you will also be working in close collaboration with the Lakes DHB.

Real Rotorua provide health and wellbeing services in the community to people aged between 12 and 20 who are experiencing issues related to their mental wellbeing. We believe in the importance of community, connection and relationships - and in the ability of young people to shape their own futures.

You’ll be reporting to the Team Coach and working in a team of Clinicians and Youth Workers, delivering support to young people in school and community settings.

We are interested to hear from candidates who have a current health registration (Occupational Therapist preferred, but open to other registered health professionals with group experience.) We would expect the successful applicant to have significant knowledge of and relationships with local NGO and Iwi providers and advanced skills in working collaboratively with other providers to address complex needs. We need someone who has the experience and ability to facilitate group work.

You’ll be known for your caring, friendly and approachable manner and be passionate about your professional role and identity. You’ll have a non-judgmental approach to working within a diverse population. A real team player, you’ll be an excellent communicator and the sort of person who brings fun and laughter to your work environment. You’ll thrive in a supportive multi-disciplinary team environment where your skills and knowledge are valued and respected by your colleagues.

You will have:

  • Experience with group work
  • A current New Zealand full driver’s licence
  • A current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one
  • A HPCAA recognised qualification and current practicing certificate
