Community Mental Health Nurse - Court Liaison

Where you’ll be working: Puawai Midland Regional Forensic Psychiatric Service - Court Liaison

The details: Permanent – 80 hours per fortnight

We have a role within the Court Liaison team which covers courts in Hamilton, Rural Waikato and occasionally there may be a need to cover our courts in Tauranga and New Plymouth.

About the Court Liaison role:

The role requires you to assess the defendant in the court setting as to whether the person requires a formal psychiatric or psychological report. It will be important that you have excellent assessment skills with sound mental health experience.

This role has a number of stakeholders that the court liaison nurse will liaise with, so excellent interpersonal skills are an important component to this job. Ideally the person we are seeking will have a basic knowledge base of the requirements of the Criminal Procedure (Mentally Impaired Persons) Act 2003, Intellectual Disability (Compulsory Care and Rehabilitation) Act 2003 and the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992

Required skills & experience:

• current annual practising certificate that enables you to work in Mental Health

• current full drivers licence.
