Community Mental Health Support Worker(s)-(Casual) Te Rangiora Adult MHS

As a Mental Health support worker you will be based in the Crisis Respite & Recovery Centre on Wairarapa Hospital campus and assist with the support and care of tangata whaiora. We are looking for someone who is flexible with a calm nature and is sensitive towards different cultures.

Crisis respite is an alternative to hospital for people requiring additional support at times of mental unwellness. You will have good communication skills and have the ability to engage people. Be able to encourage and support people with personal cares and meal preparation. Be willing to support people with activities in the community.

You will be innovative and have previous experience working alongside tangata whaiora and family / whanau with mental illness and mental health needs.

You will have the National Certificate in Mental Health Support Work (or equivalent tertiary qualification) or be working towards one. You will also need to hold a full current clean driver’s license for this role.

This is a casual position, working 0 - 80 hours per fortnight, as and when required. Applicants must be available at short notice to cover morning, afternoon and night shifts.
