We are looking for a visionary and courageous leader who can promote the vision and strategy for Equally Well, facilitate collective success, and grow and lead the backbone function.
Equally Well is a group of people and organisations with the common goal of achieving physical health equity for people who experience mental health and addiction issues. With over 120 organisations in the collaborative, it has used the principles of collective impact to work towards the goal of physical health equity.
One of the five conditions of collective impact is the provision of a backbone function that provides the infrastructure support to the collaborative. Te Pou has hosted this function since the inception of Equally Well.
We are looking for a visionary and courageous leader who can promote the vision and strategy for Equally Well, facilitate collective success, grow and lead the backbone function and support a new Collaborative leadership group. You will also drive Equally Well’s internal and external activities including strategy, communications, data functions and community engagement.
This role is fixed-term, part-time role, with the flexibility of 24- 30 hours per week. This role is based either in Thorndon, Wellington or in Ellerslie, Auckland. The fixed term will end in December 2022.

You will be an experienced leader in the health, disability or social services. You will have an understanding of addressing equity issues and interest in collective impact to bring about change.
You will also have:
- Ideally 5-10 years’ experience in a similar position, or in a leadership role where you have had experience developing and driving new initiatives.
- Proven practitioner experience working in the health, mental health, addiction, disability and/or social community care sectors, as well as experience working within a Māori health domain and strong familiarity of tikanga Māori.
- Experience of working collaboratively with a range of organisations and partners.
- Ability to balance stakeholders – understands internal and external stakeholder requirements, expectations, and needs.
- Knowledge and commitment to the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Experience in managing projects and strategic planning.
- Advanced strategy and planning skills, including an ability to think strategically on both organisational and systemic levels over multi-year horizons.
- Strong data acumen and ability to oversee complex shared-measurement systems.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build authentic relationships with a diverse set of high-profile stakeholders
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to thrive in a changing environment; willingness to “roll up one’s sleeves” and extend beyond formal responsibilities based on the needs of the work.
The Covid-19 Public Health (Vaccination) Order requires the full vaccination of anyone conducting high-risk work in the health and disability sector, or who does not necessarily provide a health service but works in a role that requires frequent contact/engagement with those who do. Therefore all workers within the Wise Group are required by the Order to be vaccinated.
