The Salvation Army Auckland Bridge Centre exists to provide safe, integrated, high-quality treatment and support services to people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or substance use. We are looking to appoint a qualified Addictions counsellor/caseworker who can support the Team Leader as Second in Charge for our residential programme based in Mt Eden, Auckland

  • Provision of casework that provides integrated care for those experiencing co-existing problems of addiction and mental health
  • Group facilitation
  • Working within the framework of The Salvation Army Bridge Programme Model of Treatment
  • Implementation of the Salvation Army Bridge Programme Policies and Procedures
  • Act into the Team Leader position as needed
  • Orientation of new staff
  • Co-ordinate monthly staff in-services and Tangata guest speaker schedule
  • On call as rostered

Person specification:

  • Degree in Addiction counselling or Social Work
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good cross-cultural understanding
  • Full professional registration - DAPAANZ/SWRB
  • Experience managing staff
  • Commitment to continuing professional development relevant to addiction studies
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, sharing information, ideas and effective practices while maintaining client and service privacy, and confidentiality

Hours of work: This is a permanent full-time role of 40 hours per week.

The starting salary for this role falls between $86,178 - $102,000 annually dependant on experience on clinical and line management experience as per Social Work Pay Equity.
