We are looking for registered mental health professionals (such as social workers, psychologists, counsellors, AOD practitioners, mental health nurses) to join our Whānau Pai (primary mental health) team as a Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP).
Interested applicants must have a current annual practicing certificate as a registered professional in one of the above disciplines.
These roles will be based at designated GP/Medical clinics located within the Hauraki or Thames/Coromandel areas. And, to ensure whānau needs are met, these roles, will work closely with the wider Ohu Hinengaro (Mental Health & Addiction Services) team, general practice teams (including our own Whānau Health Centres), Te Whatu Ora - Mental Health & Addiction and other Te Korowai Hauora o Hauraki services.
The Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) is responsible for delivering brief consultation and evidence-based behavioural interventions to individuals, groups, and families/whanau for both mental health and physical health conditions in people of all ages. The HIP provides support to the general practice teams and enhances the capacity to respond to presenting primary mental health concerns. The HIP engages in using an integrated ‘Stepped Model of Care’ that supports whanau needs and support them to move between services.

We need someone who is highly engaged and passionate about working with our whānau in a kaupapa Māori environment, you are expected to be comfortable in traversing four worlds-te ao Māori/te ao Pākehā/clinical and non-clinical. The successful candidate will need to be committed to achieving health equity and driving quality improvement to ensure better health outcomes for all and especially our Māori whānau in Pare Hauraki.
