House Leader - Intensive Respite Service - West Auckland

As a House Leader in our Intensive Respite Service you will be a pivotal part of a multi-disciplinary and collaborative team, providing crisis support for young people. We are looking for resilient, dedicated people to make a difference in the lives of a young people, at a time that is critical for them and their families/whanau. The role will work with colleagues, family/whanau, professionals and external agencies such as Starship Hospital to provide a temporary home for young people in a time of crisis.

Our House Leader role combines support work with engaging and motivating a team of a support workers in the home. Working with and gaining guidance from your Service Coordinator, you would be supervising to ensure the delivery of an efficient and successful service to the people we support.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience leading a team is greatly beneficial especially with the ability to coach and develop individuals
  • Effective report writing skills
  • Organising and allocating rosters
  • Exposure to balancing general ledgers
  • Ability to communicate effectively and supportively with the people you support, their families and your coordinator

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with youths and informed about youth culture and issues
  • Experience supporting people with disabilities and/or challenging behaviours
  • Empathy and strong communication skills
  • A Full driver's licence
  • A relevant qualification
  • Computer literacy, familiarity with Microsoft programs including MS Office
