Joining a highly skilled and passionate team that shares a strong sense of social justice, you’ll work in partnership with other agencies in the housing and health space, to coordinate access to housing and residential recovery services. You will work alongside people who are often living with intergenerational challenges, mental health, addiction and trauma issues, supporting them to achieve a stable housing situation and linking them to the health and social services that they need to stay well.

The Role/Te Tuunga

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5.00pm, based in Tokoroa and working within South Waikato and Hamilton area.

This role will involve working within the Ahikāroa coordination service. The community housing-based service has a strong focus on transition, recovery and wellness that empowers tāngata whai ora and whānau to build the capacity to live well.

In this role you will:

  • work alongside people to identify their housing needs and support them to overcome barriers to housing;
  • support people to transition from mental health residential services into permanent housing;
  • work in collaboration with other teams and agencies to identify on-going support needs for people who have moved into permanent housing to help them sustain their housing and link them in with the health and social supports they need;
  • work closely with residential providers and mental health clinical teams to review goals and provide housing solutions.

You/ Oū Pukenga

We’d love to hear from applicants who have experience in the mental health and social sectors. A confident communicator and relationship builder, you’ll quickly build credibility while showcasing your sound problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Your ability to work at pace and flourish under pressure will be complemented by excellent attention to detail and proficiency in record keeping. You’ll have knowledge of and demonstrate utmost commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi principles and working with Māori. A full New Zealand driving license is also essential. Applicants must hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent. Alternatively, you will commence study towards this within six months of starting your employment with LinkPeople. This needs to be completed within two years of commencement. LinkPeople offers significant support for Housing Case Workers to complete this study.

The Covid-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021 requires staff working in health-related services to be fully vaccinated (this includes any subsequent boosters).
