Kaiārahi Māori - Cultural Lead – Spring Hill Prison

Odyssey is a well-respected addiction treatment organization with extensive experience in the Criminal Justice environment and have successfully delivered a number of contracts including the Spring Hill Prison Drug Treatment Programme.

We are now seeking a permanent full time Kaiārahi Māori – Cultural Lead to join our Odyssey team based at Spring Hill Prison near Hampton Downs, Waikato.

To be effective in this role you will have experience and be confident in Tikanga Māori, Te Reo Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and will be comfortable with mihi/whaikōrero, kapa haka and marae protocol. You must be passionate about working with tāngata whai ora, and able to work creatively and productively whilst having a strong ability to create an environment where they can meet their full potential.

The Spring Hill DTP delivers six-month therapeutic programmes and aftercare support for up to 40 men. Your role will culturally support the facilitation of groups, supporting clients in achieving treatment goals and working closely with clinical colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.

Please note that to work in the Corrections environment applicants will be required to pass the Ministry of Justice clearance checks, as well as Police and Ministry of Social Development checks.
