Lecturer/Senior Lecturer Alcohol and Drug Studies

The successful candidate will work as part of a team that teaches in a number of School of Population Health programmes that focus on addiction studies. Will specifically coordinate and teach post graduate Certificate and Diploma courses in alcohol and drug studies. You will also be expected to advance research in the area.

Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Undertake an active, appropriate, and viable personal research programme.
  • Provide post graduate teaching in alcohol and drug studies (in particular, counselling theory and practice) with overall responsibility for one post graduate course.
  • Coordinate and administer one undergraduate course in Community and Addictions in the Bachelor of Health Sciences.
  • Supervise the research activities of undergraduate and post graduate students.
  • Assist in the administration of post-graduate teaching offered by Social and Community Health, particularly alcohol and drug teaching.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Appropriate post graduate qualifications in a relevant social or health sciences discipline such as psychology, sociology, nursing, or medicine.
  • Practice experience working with people affected by alcohol, drugs, and other addiction issues.
  • Experience in teaching addiction studies at a tertiary level.
  • Established or developing advanced knowledge in one specific area of working with people with addiction issues.
  • Have knowledge of course design, delivery, and assessment.
  • Understanding of the appropriate application of research methods.

This is a fulltime, permanent role. The start date will be in June 2022.
