Lived experience community development advisor - Mental Health and Addictions Service

Where you’ll be working: Mental Health and Addictions Service - Waikato Hospital

The details: Permanent – 80 hours per fortnight


We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual, to join the service in this new role which is focused on enabling participation of lived experience voice in service and system development.


About the service:

Waikato District Health Board Mental Health and Addiction Service are re-developing the way care is provided to meet the needs of tangata whai ora and their whānau. In partnership with other services, the mental health and addiction service will develop integrated community hubs. Health and well-being services will work together to improve the health and well-being of tangata whai ora and their whānau. Equity is an important focus in the delivery of mental health services.


About the role:

This role requires lived mental health experience, ability to develop and implement an effective framework for enabling a range of consumer/lived experience perspectives into service delivery and development work. An ability to have strong relationships and partnerships across a range of stakeholders is critical.

This position requires someone with creativity, willingness to embrace change and pursue innovation and heart for the work that they do. A dynamic and challenging opportunity to see service delivery shaped in different ways, and informed by a range of perspective.

This position will work closely with the whanau development coordinator in particular – ensuring tangata whai ora and whanau voice is enabled, and integrated.
