The details: Permanent, Part-time - 20 hours per week

About the service:

Puawai is a regional psychiatric forensic service based at Henry Rongomau Bennett Centre, and in the community. The service provides high quality rehabilitation for service users/Tangata Whaiora who experience mental health problems and are in the forensic service.

About the role:

Puna Maatai is a sub-acute based forensic ward that supports the service user/Tangata Whaiora to gain further stability in their mental health, as they begin to focus on their in-patient rehabilitation and look to the future of returning to live an occupationally enriched life in the community.

The OT, along with the multidisciplinary team, supports the service user/Tangata Whaiora to recover/engage in rehabilitation and take steps to return to living a successful and occupationally enriched life in their community.

Responsibilities of the role:

• Provide rehabilitation support for service users/Tangata Whaiora such as gaining independent living skills, run rehabilitation groups etc.

• Work within a multidisciplinary team to meet service service-user/Tangata Whaiora goals.

Required skills & experience:

• Hold a current annual practising certificate with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand.

• Commit to ongoing education and development.

• Experience working in mental health

• Be a team player.
