About the team

The Adult Intensive Care Mental Health Inpatient Unit at Wakari Hospital provides care within a 15 bed admission unit.You'll join an expert multi-disciplinary clinical team who provide input to consumers who require comprehensive assessment and/or treatment. The majority of consumers present with serious complex mental health issues.

About the role

We have an opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join an expert multidisciplinary clinical team on Ward 9b. It is expected that you will provide a discipline specific perspective through the facilitation and delivery of the occupational therapy process, including assessments, treatment planning and interventions for consumers admitted to the unit. This takes place in both group and individual settings.

In this role you will work alongside experienced clinical staff and be an integral member of the team. You will also work alongside another occupational therapist to provide occupational therapy input to inpatient consumers.

The roles will cover an extended period of input to the ward between 7.00am to 9:30pm Monday to Friday. While these are full-time positions, part-time may be considered. Hours may be varied with agreement to both parties.

About you

Ideally you'll bring to this role an ability to work within an adult mental health environment, exceptional communication skills, your non-judgemental attitude and your positive manner.

It is also is an opportunity for a new graduate occupational therapist to gain experience of acute mental health within a supportive clinical group.

To be considered for this role you will require NZ Registration as an Occupational Therapist, hold a current annual practising certificate, and a clean full driver's licence and have met the requirements of NZ Vulnerable Children's Act.
