Vibe (Hutt Valley Youth Health Trust) is the Hutt Valley’s Youth One Stop Shop delivering holistic primary health and wellbeing services to any young person aged 10-24 living in the Hutt Valley. Vibe has been delivering services which support young people to thrive and achieve their potential for the past 25 years.

The Role

Due to service growth and increased demand within the mental health and addiction space at Vibe, we have an exciting opportunity for two individuals to join our Te Puāwai Hauora team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about early intervention and working within a therapeutic space with rangatahi here in Te Awakairangi (Hutt Valley).

You will be part of an experienced, and growing team that provides brief, mild to moderate mental health and/or addiction support to young people within Te Awakairangi. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a primary mental health team that has a focus on early community intervention, there is also the opportunity to be involved in the development and growth of our services within Te Awakairangi.

There is flexibility within the available FTE for the right candidate to be able to fit with their whānau and other commitments.

To be successful in this position you will have demonstrated experience within mental health services and will have completed therapeutic training. You will need to demonstrate cultural competency within a brief intervention framework. In addition, you will be confident connecting with a range of stakeholders and across different settings including communities, schools, youth, health, or social services.

You will bring to this position:

  • A professional qualification and registration such as: Mental Health Nurse/Social Worker/Counsellor/ Occupational Therapist.
  • CBT/DBT/ACT/Family Therapy or other training in brief therapeutic interventions undertaken or partaking within.
  • Experience working with young people and their whānau
  • Excellent time management skills and excellent verbal communication
  • Culturally competent working within Pacific and/or Māori practice frameworks would be an advantage.
  • Experience in patient management systems, such as Medtech would be an advantage but not essential
  • An ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to take constructive feedback to help develop their own professional practice
  • A supportive approach to the Kaupapa, philosophy, and values of Vibe
