Quality Assurance Coordinator, Specialist Mental Health & Addiction Services (WDHB13278)

Waitematā District Health Board (WDHB) is the largest mental health and addictions provider in NZ with services for infants, children, adult and older adult, Māori and Pasifika peoples and services for specific populations including forensic mental health services and addictions services. As a specialist mental health and addictions services there is strong collaboration and partnerships with a number of Non-Government Organisations (NGO) and Primary Health Organisations (PHO) in the region.

We are currently recruiting for a Quality Coordinator to contribute to the quality systems that support the delivery of quality clinical services, particularly focused on Adult Mental Health Services. As a member of the Quality and Improvement Team you will report to the Q&I Lead, and work alongside a small group of experienced colleagues, with a very strong focus around evidence-based clinical practice, standardisation and working towards equity of health outcomes.

The role is essential to support best practice in managing complaints, adverse events, risk management, and credentialing and audit processes. The role also provides an opportunity for you to apply your administrative and relationship skills to coordinate policy and process review and to supply reporting and feedback to the services’ Clinical Governance meetings.

You will have a background in clinical quality and clinical practice preferably within addiction or mental health services, or you will have a background as a consumer of specialist mental health or addictions services. You will demonstrate excellent relationship skills, excellent oral and written communication skills (including report-writing) and a familiarity with clinical processes and clinical outcomes. You will be motivated and ready to apply your skills and enthusiasm for quality activities. To be considered for this role, the following are required:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant health field or a related quality qualification
  • Recent experience in a medium to large health organisation
  • More than five years health sector experience with recent clinical experience, or experience as a consumer of mental health services
  • Experience and/or qualification in quality assurance and improvement in healthcare
