Registered Mental Health Nurse

We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health Services for Older People In-Patient Unit.

The focus is to deliver high quality care to the growing population in the Bay of Plenty. At the heart of our services are our CARE values – Compassion, All-one-team, Responsive and Excellence.

The role comprises of nursing older people experiencing an acute mental health condition, dementia with behavioural and psychological symptoms, complex delirium, or palliative dementia care. You will work with the wider Multidisciplinary team, clients, their families/whànau, and the community to provide an effective assessment, facilitate and implement planned treatment to recovery, maximise health and independence.The focus of care is person centred/recovery models of care/palliative care.

The successful applicant will be required to have experience in acute mental health and gerontology nursing care. They must have a range of therapeutic modalities, a good understanding of dementia/delirium nursing care, and a working understanding of the Mental Health Act. The successful candidate will preferably be experience in older person’s mental health.
