We’re looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Pathways Wellington Hutt Acute Alternative Service.
This is a permanent, full-time position. We have two possible shifts. Please indicate in your cover letter which of the two shifts you prefer.
Tuesday – Saturday 8.00am – 4.30pm with some flexibility.
Sunday – Thursday 8.00am- 4.30pm with some flexibility.
Our Registered Nurses support people experiencing mental illness and staff working with them to identify and meet individual health and social care needs and support them to re-connect with community services and take control of their own lives. The role of our nurses is to provide expert clinical guidance to ensure that all health care needs are being addressed.
This service is designed to support people with higher level of mental health concerns who would benefit from intensive short-term support with the aim being to provide an alternative to hospital admission, or earlier transition from hospital to home. Intensive short-term support can be provided at the Pathways Hutt service locality or at the person’s home depending on their needs and wishes.

We are interested to hear from candidates who are registered as a Nurse (and able to work within Mental Health), someone who has the ability to support and inspire a team, and ideally has experience in mental health.
You’ll be known for your caring, friendly and approachable manner and be passionate about your professional role and identity. You’ll have a non-judgmental approach to working within a diverse population. A real team player, you’ll be an excellent communicator and the sort of person who brings fun and laughter to your work environment. You’ll thrive in a supportive multi-disciplinary team environment where your skills and knowledge are valued and respected by your colleagues.
You’ll also have:
- Current APC with Mental Health Scope of practice
- A full clean NZ driver’s license is essential for this role
- You’re a great listener, the sort of person who will listen deeply to the people who use our services
- You have great interpersonal skills, skills in group work, and a can do attitude
- You have the ability to practice autonomously and to identify areas in a work setting where nursing skills can be applied
- You have the ability to run group sessions
