About the team
Ward 9A at Wakari Hospital is a 13 bed medium secure unit, it is the inpatient unit for Otago and Southland for those persons who are in the Justice system and require assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. A full complement of a multidisciplinary team delivers a range of therapeutic services and programmes in this setting. Ward 9A has a strong emphasis on linking people with families/ whanau and support persons and reintegration into the wider community.
The role - About you
In this position you'll be working in a secure environment predominantly with patients referred from the courts and/or prison setting for assessment and/or treatment. Increasingly we provide a rehabilitative role in assisting patients with complex needs to reintegrate into the community. Every day you get to work with and alongside a dynamic and committed multidisciplinary team.
Our aim is to provide a safe environment and to plan care that meets individual needs. This includes maintaining links with family and friends whose on-going support and input is often of vital importance to the provision of care.
We are looking for experienced Mental Health or Comprehensive Registered Nurses to join our supportive multidisciplinary team. You will be an enthusiastic Registered Nurse with a range of skills and the ability to work effectively with a large team to a high standard of practice. To be successful in this role you must be positive with exceptional communication skills, you will also have a passion for supporting people with mental illness.
