Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

We are looking for Registered Nurses who can work in the Multi-disciplinary team providing medium-secure psychiatric services within a framework of clinical governance. We offer specialised assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for offenders with mental health problems thereby seeking to reduce the distress associated with mental health problems and their behavioural consequences, with reduction of risk of harm to others.

Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team

The Purehurehu Team is a dynamic multi-disciplinary team from a variety of ethnic and experiential backgrounds including, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, mental health support workers and administration staff. We are managed by a Team Leader and supported by the wider Mental Health and Intellectual Disability management Team.

Moū – About you

You will need to be able to work collaboratively within a team; be able to support Mental Health Support Workers (MHSW) under your direction and delegation; carry out and assist MHSW’s to undertake care activities. You will bring your active listening skills, solution focus approach to fostering tangata whaiora to achieve their identified goals within their pathway journey. You will have the ability to take on new learning where required to support your role within the team as well as good communication skills with your team members, tangata whaiora and whānau. You will be proactive in ensuring all nursing led documentation reflects a person centred approach and promotes the enhancement of independence.
