Residential Support Worker

About the role:

The Salvation Army Bridge Centres exists to provide safe, integrated, high-quality treatment and support services to people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or substance use. Our services are evidence-based best practice and are known for being people-centered, caring, transformative and responsive.

The applicant should have experience in support work in an addiction or mental health setting and/or hold or currently working towards the National Certificate in Mental Health Support Work Level 4.

The ability to work in a culturally appropriate and safe manner with Maori and Pacific peoples is essential as is a full /clean driver's licence.

What will your responsibilities be:

  • To provide a supportive and safe environment for Tangata within residential housing
  • Uphold The Salvation Army's Mission and Christian ethos.
  • Value and respect the individuality, dignity and privacy of each Tangata of the Bridge Programme
  • Preserve confidentiality of Tangatas' personal information.
  • Maintain good communication with Tangata, family/whanau, and other team members
  • Committed to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi as they apply to The Salvation Army Bridge Programme
  • Tangata receive care without discrimination on the basis of race, culture, health, sexual orientation or age
  • Manage the Tangata food ordering and oversee cooking duties
  • Light cleaning duties as required
  • Driving Tangata to Recovery Church
  • This is a sole charge position

Hour of work: Permanent 40 hours per week with shifts on Sunday to Thursday, 4pm to 12am

The starting salary for this role will fall between $49,296.00 and $60,528.00 pa
