We have the opportunity for a motivated Social Worker to join the dynamic and progressive team for Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit – Te Awhina.
Your primary area of work will be Acute Mental Health. With Thriving Communities as our focus, you will also have the opportunity to engage in community-based work as part of the discharge process. This allows you to gain experience across a wide range of conditions at different stages of rehabilitation, whilst being supported by an integrative multi-disciplinary team.
Whanganui Hospital gives you the unique opportunity of being involved in tangata whaiora and whānau care for their whole patient journey. You will be able to build professional relationships with tangata whaiora and whānau along with other medical professionals involved in their care in the context of Te Whare Tapa Wha.
About you

· Hold full registration with the SWRB and a current annual practicing certificate
· Have an understanding of other health professional roles
· Motivated to maintain high level of knowledge and skill
· Links with local and national community agencies and organisations
· Ideally Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Social Worker
· Ideally you will have experience working in an acute mental health unit and working knowledge of all Mental Health Act legislation is highly desirable
