Our catchment area encompasses Invercargill City, Queenstown - Lakes District, Gore, rural Southland, Clutha, Central Otago, Maniototo, Waitaki District and Dunedin City. About the Team

South Community Mental Health Team provide care, support and treatment for people experiencing moderate to severe mental illness.

 

About the Role  and You

In this Social Worker role, you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team based out of Wakari Hospital, working in a case management capacity to deliver a supportive service to our clients. You’ll work autonomously but will be well embedded in a team of equally dedicated mental health professionals.  We need you to be able to demonstrate your effective communication skills and your ability to think on your feet while exuding calmness under pressure.

 

You’ll have an excellent set of skills - written and oral communication; needs assessment; networking; advocacy; and critical thinking. Plus you’ll have the ability to support and empower the patient and the family/whanau to reach their goals.  Previous experience in a mental health setting will be an added advantage.

 

You must hold a professional social worker qualification (as per Social Worker Registration Board schedules for registration eligibility i.e. Bachelor’s degree equivalent) and be Registered and hold a current annual practicing certificate with Social Work Registration Board (SWRB) within 3 months of appointment.   A current full driver license is required.
