Join our Wellington Pathways’ Home Based Support service, supporting people to regain their mental health and independence.
We have an exciting opportunity for someone looking for a full-time role working 40 hours per week. The role is based in our Wellington HBS service based at Thorndon Quay.
The role is a rotating AM/PM weekly roster working Tuesday to Saturday. Week 1: 7.00am to 3.30pm; Week 2: 1.30pm to 10.00pm.
While you will have some regular tasks that you do each day, no two days will ever be the same! You might be kept busy supporting people with budgeting and independent daily living skills or attending appointments and advocating for people. Or you might be assisting people to connect with their communities. You’ll need to be prepared to do whatever it takes - cleaning, cooking, gardening, personal care or helping out with everyday household tasks. The work may be in people’s homes or supporting them to access services and make connections in the community.
Transforming mental health and addictions through fostering strong, compassionate, self-supporting communities.
You’ll be reporting to the Team Coach and joining our Pathways’ Home Based Support service, working in the community with a team of other passionate Support Workers – all with a common purpose to support people in their recovery from mental distress.
You’ll be someone who wants to work in a close knit and supportive team. You’ll have a caring nature and a passion for supporting people in a recovery focused approach to help with their recovery journeys. People will describe you as a real ‘people person’- someone who can relate to and connect with anyone – a team player who loves to have a laugh. You’ll have excellent time management skills, be able to problem solve, have good admin skills, be practical and have plenty of common sense. Of course, you’ll also have heaps of initiative and be keen to learn.
You’ll also have:
- A current full New Zealand driver’s licence
- A current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one
- Hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent or be currently studying towards this qualification or a recognised equivalent. Alternatively, you will commence study towards this within six months of starting your employment with Pathways. This needs to be completed within two years of commencement. Pathways offers significant support for support workers to complete this study.
In this role, you can look forward to extra leave, subsidies for school holiday childcare and a great team around you every day working in an organisation that believes in its’ purpose. Be part of a supportive work environment where professional development is encouraged through training and ‘on the job’ experience, people are valued, and new solutions are the norm!
