Support Worker

  • Full-time and part time position available
  • Based in Central Auckland

Summary

Are you the support worker we are looking for? Someone who is passionate about helping people with their wellbeing, supporting them through the challenges they face and helping to facilitate their access to services.

There are 3 positions available:

  • Full-time position working (Awhi Ora) 8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday (occasional evening/weekend work)
  • Part time position working 9am – 1pm (hours negotiable) Monday to Friday (occasional evening/weekend work)
  • Full time position available (fixed term) 8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday (occasional evening/weekend work).

Awhi Ora is a new service with Pathways and the ADHB working alongside GPs in primary care, helping support our people in the community find resources that will reconnect them back to their community such as connecting with WINZ, Housing, physical exercise and helping out with early intervention with their Mental Health and physical needs, you will be working in a small team so we are looking for a team player and you will have an outing going personality.

The Team

You will be reporting to the Team Coach and be part of a primary and wellbeing team based in south Auckland.

The Awhi Ora service will assist returning New Zealand residents who may have a range of support needs that may include;

  • Individuals and families in financial distress
  • Urgent housing needs
  • Development of social connections
  • Employment needs
  • Educational needs for themselves and or children who need to engage in education.
  • Wellbeing needs

You

We are looking for someone with experience working in a community setting. You are a communicator, and a listener, the sort of person who will listen deeply to the people who use our service. You are self motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team. You can demonstrate resilience, be a critical thinker and have excellent problem solving skills.

You will also;

  • Be confident working in the community, working alongside GP practices
  • Have a good knowledge of community resources to help people we support
  • Work cross-culturally and in ways that are appropriate to a diverse community
  • Competently use online technology
  • Hold a current full drivers licence
  • Hold a current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one
  • Applicants must hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent, or currently working towards it. Alternatively, you will commence study towards this within six months of starting your employment with Pathways. This needs to be completed within two years of commencement.

The Covid-19 Public Health (Vaccination) Order requires the full vaccination of anyone conducting high-risk work in the health and disability sector, or who does not necessarily provide a health service but works in a role that requires frequent contact/engagement with those who do. Therefore all workers within the Wise Group are required by the Order to be vaccinated.
